Asset Based Community Development (ABCD)

This course is for anyone who believes in working in a person centred way and who has an interest in building strong relationships across their communities. It will give you the chance to learn about:

  • Beginning conversations
  • Some of the tools and methodology of ABCD
  • How to map assets
  • Identifying and develop community connection

 

Autism Awareness

 This course is for anyone who wants to know more about individuals on the autistic spectrum and good support strategies. It will give you the chance to learn about: 


· A range of training and information options
· Understanding of autism
· How to find more information and support
· Improving working practices in supporting colleagues with autism or Asperger’s

 

 

 

 

Employment Planning


The course is for individuals with learning difficulties and individuals on the autistic spectrum and those who support them to find paid work. It will give you the chance to learn about: 
 

· Employment planning values
· Working out what a dream job might be
· Involving people who can help
· Thinking about which employers to contact
· Action planning to achieve the goal 

HR Recruitment and and Interview Techniques

This course is for employers who already employ an individual on the autistic spectrum or who are considering doing so. It will give you the chance to learn about:

  • Inclusive practice in selecting and interviewing people with autism
  • Reviewing your recruitment and retention policies
  • Exploring ways of making low cost reasonable adjustments to your workplace
  • Autism in relation to human resources processes

LEAN techniques

This course is for employers who already employ a diverse workforce or who are interested in doing so whilst keeping a business like profile in the process. It will help you to learn about:

  • LEAN systems in relation to creating a diverse workforce
  • How to introduce or refresh your knowledge of  LEAN methodology
  • LEAN tools and techniques

 

MAP

 
This course focuses on the person centred planning tool called MAP. MAP is a very effective tool to use when there is no clear direction of a way forward. This course is for anyone who believes in working in a person centred way and who has an interest in helping people to plan great lives. It will give you the chance to learn about:

  •  Celebrating gifts, strengths and talents
  •  Exploring the person’s dreams and nightmares
  •  Enabling a person to tell their story

 

Outcome Based Support Planning

Outcomes are the things a person wants to achieve in life. The course is for individuals with learning difficulties and individuals on the autistic spectrum and those who support them to achieve the outcomes they want. This course will give you the chance to learn about:
 

  • Ways to think about what's important in each person’s life
  • How to keep planning real
  • What planning is and isn’t
  • How to find and use resources in your community

 

PATH

 This course focuses on the person centred planning tool called PATH. PATH is a very effective tool to use when there is some idea of the direction to follow. This course is for anyone who believes in working in a person centred way and who has an interest in helping people to plan great lives. It will give you the chance to learn about:
 

  • Planning for one year on
  • Ensuring that the right people engage and enrol
  • Detailed action planning

 

 

RED (Rapid Enterprise Development)

This course is an introduction to supporting people with learning difficulties and individuals on the autistic spectrum to self-employment and small business development. . It will give you the chance to learn about:
 

  • Developing a business idea
  • Thinking about finance and how to make money
  • Business benefits
  • Understanding you customers

 

Systematic support

This course if for people who have a key role in supporting people in work, at home and in the community. It will give you the chance to learn about:
 

  • Organising all the information that a person will need to do a new task
  • Planning learning
  • Teaching techniques
  • Keeping a record of how things are going
  • The values that underpin good teaching

 

Teaching Episodic Routines

The course is for employers and staff who support development of workers with disabilities. It is a mixture of teaching and practical work and involves completing a task in the community and working with people with learning difficulties. It will give you the chance to learn about and practise:

  • How to make training decision to help the person achieve their positive outcome
  • How to teach the task(s)
  • How to look out for natural cues
  • How to gather and organise information about tasks that don’t happen frequently
