Celebrating 50 Years of Values Into Action!
Join us for a series of events as we celebrate the 50-year history of VIA UK and look at how it evolved to become Values Into Action Scotland. Over the first week in December 2021, we will be offering a programme of live, on-line events to celebrate past achievements, spotlight current successes and showcase plans for future developments.
In 1971 Ann Shearer, Sandra Francklin and Anita Hunt started a campaign for institutional closure. They called it ‘Campaign for the Mentally Handicapped’ (CMH) and set about recruiting others willing to join.
In 1996, CMH became Values Into Action and in 2006 Values Into Action Scotland was born.
We will celebrate 50 years of this work by focussing on a decade each day from Monday 28 November through to Friday 3 December.
We will be joined by Ann Shearer, John O’Brien, Andrew Holman, Simon Duffy and many others throughout the week including our own VIAS staff team past and present.
