Values in Action Scotland (VIAS) is recruiting for a Board Member position. We are keen to hear from people with a strong communications and social media background.
Established in 1971 VIAS has grown to be a leading charity in this space with a turnover of £491,795. VIAS’ vision is for a Scotland where people with learning disabilities and/or autism have the same opportunities as everyone else and are supported to achieve their goals.
As a disabled persons organsation (DPO), 50% of our board have a learning disability and/or autism. The other 50% of the board are selected on the basis of specialisms that will help us to develop and it is here that we have a vacancy.
We offer excellent training and development opportunities and out of pocket travel expenses. Mentoring support is offered to allow a smooth transition for new Board Members.
The board of VIAS meet virtually quarterly on Wednesdays between 6pm and 8pm. The successful candidate would also be required to attend meetings of one of the VIAS Strategic Groups progressing our strategic objective of Enhanced communications capacity and practice.
Meetings take place between board meetings and will be minimum 1 meeting maximum 2 meetings lasting 1 hour. The majority of meetings take place via Zoom mid-week but we do a face-to-face meet up at least once per year.
